Screen
The EKP-IV brings situational awareness to the next level in portable Moving Map GPS. The EKP-IV is more compact and has an even larger screen with brilliant color, sunlight viewable LCD display. The screen has a resolution of 800 * 480 and a brightness of 400NIT (compare this to a PocketPC (240*320 and around 90 Nit) or Notebook (higher resolution but 150 Nit). None of the competitors matches such a bright and ultimate situational awareness for navigation.
Screen Orientation
Panel mount or yoke mount (knee strapped)? No problem. The EKP-IV can be used in portrait and landscape mode. The keys are oriented in such a way that the can be manipulated easily, independent of the orientation.
Form factor
Although the EKP-IV uses a larger screen (17.5 cm diagonal instead of 16cm on the EKP-IIIc), the AvMap Engineers managed to get all the fantastic features that pilots appreciate, into a compacter design.
Power
As an option the EKP-IV can be fitted with 6 AA NiMH batteries giving it at least 1.5 hour backup power. By using power management to the Max, even more time is available.
Jeppesen NavData
The EKP-IV like the EKP-IIIc and EKP-IIIC Pro SAR come with the Jeppesen navigation data. This navData can easily be updated in a 28day cycle.
All information at your fingertips
The EKP-IV gives you quick access to all the information you might need. To do so it has:
- User configurable data windows, so that the pilot can view the information he/she needs in function of the phase of flight he/she is in.
- The EKP-IV supports 3 user definable map views. These allow the pilot to define what map detail he/she wants to see. By using the CYCLE button one can cycle through the 3 map views.
- By moving the cursor over an aeronautical object the pilot can get detailed information of this object (Automatic Info).
Knee board design
If you can’t mount the EKP-IV on the airplane or Helicopter, you can always strap it tightly on your knee.
